Mireille is an arts administrator with over 10 years of experience supporting innovative projects and ideas in the performing arts and new media. Seeking inspiration and refusing to settle for routine work, her professional endeavors have led her to successfully assist in the delivery of some of the most progressive workshops, festivals and products across the country.
“Being involved with contemporary dance was a way of being part of a bigger picture; Observing people being touched and sometimes changed by stories told through movement, music and imagery, was intensely satisfying.”
A personal milestone was achieved when she was asked to be the Company Manager for the Canada Dance Festival at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. It was a blend of art and business which perfectly satisfied Mireille’s valuing of a balance between logic and passion.
Another opportunity to engage with the growing edge occurred when Mireille was asked to be a Line Producer for two breakthrough products in the fields of Interactive Gaming and Interactive Clothing at the Banff New Media Institute. The Interactive Gaming application enabled groups to create their own story while receiving information about the immediate environment. The Interactive Clothing application was sensory based and aimed to create connections with others by turning feelings into visual cues. Again, it was satisfying being involved in projects which aim to provoke, connect and engage people through alternative mediums.
